Children's Day & Children's Day Celebration! No official day currently exists in California to honor Children in our society!
However, in partnership with the State of California, Children's Day USA, various Kiwanis, Lions, & Rotary Clubs, local news media, and the many Children's Charities, Organizations, & Businesses, the San Diego Children's Coalition has been asked to establish an official day honoring San Diego's children and those in the charitable service of Children.
As a part of Children's Day, the San Diego Children's Coalition will host a Children's Day Celebration from April 15th to April 30th, 2011. The two-week long Celebration, ending in Children's Day, April 30th, will ask the many Children's Charities and Organizations to host outstanding family-oriented events and charitable fundraisers and encourage businesses to provide special promotions that benefit children and their families.
The Theme of the Celebration will be: Safe - Clean - Green Communities for Kids & Family
During the Event, we are asked to: Pick a Day, Choose a Charity, Support an Event!
The San Diego Children's Coalition!
The San Diego Children's Coalition is a newly formed, non-profit organization launched in 2009 as a partnership between local Kiwanis and Lions Clubs to create awareness of Children's Charities, Organizations, and Businesses to promote family and children's events, charitable fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities in San Diego County.
Media Participation!
Many local media outlets are coming on board to promote the Celebration and events during this 2-week period. Charities will be given time on local radio stations to promote their upcoming events and those during the Celebration.
Business Participation!
Businesses will be encouraged to participate by offering special promotions during the Celebration (ie. Denny's is on board with placemats highlighting charities and offering free pancakes for children. Chevy's will host event locations, etc...
Volunteer Opportunities!
Don't let this all intimate you. This event, sponsored by the San Diego Children's Coalition, will just coordinate and promote the activities put on by the charities themselves. There will be many opportunities to help the Children's Coalition as well as at the many charities and their events.
Children's Day Awards Gala!
On the Saturday before Children's Day, the San Diego Children's Coalition will host a black-tie Children's Day Gala where the many individuals and organizations will be honor for their service to our community and to children.

If you are an individual or belong to a charity, organization, or business interested in participating in the launch of Children's Day, please join us at one of our many Organizing Committee meetings and Mixers.
